Monthly Assessment:
The monthly assessment will vary based on the Acquisition Cost of the Thoroughbred, the Trainer, and the location of our Thoroughbreds, however, each assessment will be based on the percentage of ownership by each member. The assessment is used to cover the various ordinary and normal expenses related to the training and caring for the horse. Should additional expenses exceeding the monthly assessment arise, all members will be notified in advance of the expenditure. Should an emergency situation occur, the Managing Director in conjunction with the Trainer will make decisions for the group, with the safety and care for the Thoroughbred being top of mind.
Monthly Revenue:
When our horses race, the members of the ownership group will be credited with a portion of the earnings. As with the expenses, the revenues are tied directly to an owner's percentage of ownership. Each racetrack may set the commissions earned by the trainer and the jockey. Those amounts are initially deducted from the revenues generated by the horse for that particular race. Traditionally the trainer earns 10% for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes, and the jockey earns 10% for 1st and 5% for 2nd and 3rd place finishes, however, various types of agreements with trainers are not uncommon. The jockey will earn a mount fee for 4th place and lower. A commission of 5% is paid to the racing stable. The remaining earnings will be paid to our partners.
HORSE RACING IS AN EXTREMELY RISKY BUSINESS. There are no guarantees that any of our horses will ever make it to a race. There are a number of variables that go into a successful horse. Training, talent, race selection, and timing of them all go into the final results. The possibility exists that owners will lose some or all of any money invested.
